“18 Days In July"

"18 Days In July" is the factual story of public attitudes toward mental illness in 1972 that forced the resignation of Senator Thomas Eagleton as Senator George McGovern's vice presidential running mate.  Events are compacted into one day at the McGovern home in Mitchell, South Dakota with only one fictional character, Frances Farrington, an AP reporter.  Dialogue is based on public records.  The 30-minute play asks the question: have public attitudes toward mental illness changed?
